About the Artwork:

The Flagship of Kings

I began this snowy owl years ago, the very first piece in what became my Kings of the Sky series. I carried this piece with me on more than one move across the country as I worked on it. The snow owl was one of my favorite pieces and I slowed down working on it because I loved painting it so much; not only the colors and confidence of this owl, but anticipation before the strike that was part of this artwork's whole mood, and I wanted the painting to express that feeling.

That long journey is why Silent Breath of Pursuit became the flagship of the series. It is the work that sparked my vision of the raptors before the rest even existed, and it carries the full weight of that beginning.

One of my favorites is now complete. I will miss working on this piece, as it has always been something special. For the person who values timing, guardianship, and legacy, this snowy owl is more than a painting. It is presence, a sanctuary in the present, and an heirloom created to endure.
